IPL Match 13: Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians in a close encounter

Delhi Capitals proved their worth defeating Mumbai Indians in a close encounter played at the M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Tuesday.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Quinton de Kock fell cheaply to Marcus Stoinis. At the end of the first six overs, Mumbai Indians made 55 for 1. With that, the first timeout was called.

After the timeout, Rohit and Surya Kumar Yadav made the batting look easy. Avesh Khan into the attack got the breakthrough getting rid of Surya providing a simple catch to Pant. It was an attacking partnership between these two players. Both Rohit and Surya added 58 runs for the 2nd wicket.

It was a superb bowling effort by Delhi Capitals bowlers to restrict Mumbai Indians for 137 for 9 at the end of the 20 overs.

Chasing 138 runs to win, it was not an ideal start for Delhi Capitals as Prithvi Shaw could not contribute any runs providing a return catch to Jayant Yadav. Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith steadied the ship for Capitals taking singles and hitting occasional boundaries. At the end of the first six overs, Delhi Capitals made 39 for 1.

After the field restrictions, Smith and Dhawan played according to the situation making life tough for the Mumbai Indians. At the end of the first timeout, Delhi Capitals scored 64 for 1.
